Arbroath wharf 1, Scotland

I don't intend for this to be on my bragging rights page, but rather, hopefully, a bit of encouragement from me to you.

I think that the scenery capture is beautiful. The combination of the birds and the wharf are great subjects for the photo. I particularly like you managed to capture the old man sitting on the wharf.

The lighting is not to my taste, I wish I could see the color of the water or the reflection of the sky more clearly, but that's just personal preference. The high contrast between the water, the ducks, and the wharf does make for an excellent composition and draws the eye on the subjects besides the sea.

The bit of critique would like to share is that the picture does place subject matter at the center of the photo, but it does not adhere well to the "rule of 9." Though the scene is striking and beautiful, the photo looses some of it's impact because of its placement.

It's a very lovely picture, and I wish I could have been there to see everything in person. That, I think, is the key to good photography in the first place; it draws us out into the world.
