Byron Bay sand model 2 by wildplaces Byron Bay sand model 2 by wildplaces
Again I must say that this model is not my work. . . I'm just sharing it with you. . . This kind of modelling is a regular feature of Main Beach, Byron Bay.

Improved version of an old film shot.

The castles tend to have hippie / fantasy / new age themes - but byron Bay is that kind of place.

I think there are a team of artists. They must have certain methods and tools that they've developed. And they're pretty well self-sustaining. They move up and down the coast building them and earning quite a few bucks from watchers. I can think of worse ways of making a living.

Yes. I've seen the snow and ice sculptures. Usually sand doesn't hold together this well.

They are beautiful constructions. They draw as many adults and kids as audience. . . I think there's something pretty universal about sand castles, dragons etc. We can all remember trying to make things like this.
