I was very pleased when this pearl lugger decided to sail right across the setting sun. . .

 THat's a schooner. TWo or more masts, all fore and aft rigged.. as in not square sails. In a two masted schooner, the forward mast is shorter than the after mast, making them a form'st and mainm'st respectively. You can have schooners with more masts... usually 2, but can be up to 4 or 5.
If the forward mast was taller than the after one, it would be a Ketch or Yawl, depding on the position of the mizzen, or smaller after mast Lovely shot  -- "Don't try to be a great man ... just be a man. I thought a schooner was a measure of beer! . . . I defer to your greater knowledge of things nautical.
 I am honoured to be able to fix the lack of knowledge in that area.. i've never heard schooner used as a unit o f measurement.. how cool
