Sunrise at Cape Byron 1 by wildplaces Sunrise at Cape Byron 1 by wildplaces
I think this is possibly the best sunrise or sunset shot I've ever taken. . . I had it up on DA very early in my gallery but only scanned from a print. I;ve had the negs scanned and this is sooo much clearer.

This is Watego's Beach at Byron Bay again, looking at Cape Byron, the easternmost point of the Australian mainland. . . The shot almost got me a hefty fine. I slept in my van beside the beach in order to be up early enough to get the sunrise. About 4 a.m. the local gestapo rangers came past and told me didn't I know it was an offence to sleep in my car, and they oughta run me in and stuff. Fortunately I had concocted a good enough alibi to just get away with it. . . But it was worth it for the shots.

Whoops. Sorry! Reducing size of file. I loaded it much too big.

Mind if I use it as my wallpaper?

I really like the way the reflections turned out "blurry" in the sand..

This shot definately should be in your exhibition Andy. I agree with you that it is possibly the best landscape shot you've taken, in fact I think it is the best landscape shot I have EVER seen.

Would I be right in assuming the lighthouse is at the top of that cliff in amongst the trees or is it a bit further around to the right?

I have only ever been there once and then very briefly on my way up to Brisvegas so things are a little bit hasey.

You're right - a bit higher on the right. That hill goes up quite a bit further.

I love the shape of the black space.
Of course, half of it is reflected.
It has such wonderful symmetry to it though.
The clouds, the water, the reflections,
all just wonderful.

Thanks a lot, Martina. . . . I can remember times when you could still park by a beach and sleep in your car. Nowadays they don't seem to want you to do that.

G’Day Ian,

Gee Whiz, Words fail me on this one so I will have to use someone else’s. (Martin Luther King)

“He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the promised land.”

Mother Nature never ceases to amaze in what she can produce. You just have to be there at the right time to capture her beauty at that particular moment.

Best Regards as always,

Ian.
